Studio Ubique runs managed VPS hosting for startups, mid-sized companies, agencies and white-label partners across the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, the US and other markets. The team handling your server is the same team you reach when something needs adjusting, no first-line ticket routing through a help desk.
The questions that come up most often, answered here. Yours not among them? Just ask, there's a human on the other end.
Shared hosting works until it doesn’t. Common signals you’ve outgrown it: pages slowing during traffic spikes, server resources (CPU, RAM) consistently capping during peak periods, neighbours’ sites affecting your performance, security limitations preventing the integrations or configurations your stack needs, or your support team explaining outages with “shared hosting limitations”. Managed VPS fixes those problems by giving you dedicated resources on the same hardware.
Dedicated hardware (a full physical server) becomes the right answer when you need maximum control, very high sustained traffic, specific hardware specs no VPS plan covers, or regulatory requirements that need physical isolation. For most growing eCommerce stores, SaaS platforms and mid-traffic content sites, managed VPS sits in the right place: dedicated resources without the cost and operational complexity of running a physical server. Our shared hosting service covers the entry tier for smaller sites where VPS would be overkill.
The three published plans (€189, €289, €489 per month) scale on RAM, vCPU and NVMe storage. The 4 GB plan suits small to mid-traffic content sites and lightweight eCommerce. The 8 GB plan handles growing eCommerce, SaaS applications, or busy WordPress installs with caching layers. The 16 GB plan covers larger eCommerce platforms, high-traffic SaaS, or sites running multiple resource-intensive applications. Beyond 16 GB, custom plans go up to 480 GB RAM and 38 vCPU cores, priced on request.
All plans include the same managed services: OS patches, proactive monitoring, Imunify360 security suite, CloudLinux account isolation, free SSL certificates with auto-renewal, daily snapshots (12 per day), and free migration from your current hosting provider. Off-site backups are an optional add-on at €16 per month for clients who need additional disaster recovery beyond the daily snapshots. Migration is free, included on every VPS plan, and handled by our engineers with zero downtime in most cases. The process: we set up your sites on the new VPS in parallel with your current hosting, copy databases and files, configure DNS in advance with reduced TTL, run a final sync at cutover, then flip DNS to point to the new server. Your existing site keeps running during the entire migration, users see no interruption.
Migration timing depends on site count, total storage, database size, and complexity. A single WordPress site with a few GB of content migrates in a few hours. A multisite or eCommerce platform with multiple databases, cache layers and integrations runs over a few days. Plans with significant email volume coordinate with our dedicated email hosting team to avoid email outages during DNS propagation. Our website migration service covers the broader migration approach across hosting providers.
99.9% uptime target on standard plans, with monitoring running 24/7 and our engineers receiving alerts before issues become outages. One-hour response targets during business hours mean someone is looking at the issue quickly, not that it’s resolved in an hour: actual resolution depends on what broke. Snapshots taken 12 times a day mean we can roll back fast if a deployment or update causes problems.
For organisations where downtime has real revenue cost (eCommerce during Black Friday, SaaS with uptime commitments to their own customers, regulated industries), our website support packages (Care, Growth, Partnership) define structured response times, priority handling and uptime targets beyond the standard plan. Website support packages cover what’s included in each tier and when each one fits.
Monthly resource adjustments are part of the managed VPS offer: add CPU cores or RAM ahead of expected peaks, scale back after. The actual server restart after adjusting resources takes about 45 seconds. For predictable peaks (Black Friday, Cyber Monday, product launches, planned campaigns), we recommend scaling up two to three days in advance to give caching layers time to warm and any tweaks time to settle.
For unexpected viral spikes, the standard plans can absorb significant burst traffic through LiteSpeed caching and Redis before resource constraints actually start affecting performance. If a sustained spike persists, we can scale resources mid-event. For traffic patterns that genuinely exceed VPS capacity (multi-million daily visitors, real-time platforms), the conversation shifts toward dedicated hardware or distributed infrastructure rather than continuing to scale a single VPS. Performance optimisation work covers how to extract more headroom from a given plan before scaling up.
Built-in on every plan: Imunify360 for real-time malware scanning and removal, plus brute-force attack blocking at the firewall level. CloudLinux OS Pro for account isolation, so a compromised site on one cPanel account can’t reach another. Free SSL certificates with automatic renewal. Daily snapshots (12 per day) for fast restore. ModSecurity rules tuned for common attack patterns. Server-level firewall configuration handled by our team.
Optional add-ons: off-site backup at €16 per month for clients who need disaster recovery beyond the daily snapshots, additional Imunify360 features for specific compliance requirements, and custom firewall rules for clients with specific security needs (whitelisting countries, blocking specific IP ranges, custom geo-blocking). For sites with stricter compliance requirements (PCI-DSS, HIPAA-aligned, financial services), we can scope a custom security setup. Security and speed optimisation work covers the deeper security layer beyond what’s built into hosting.
We handle: server OS patches and security updates, infrastructure monitoring, security stack management (Imunify360, CloudLinux, firewall rules), backup configuration and verification, performance tuning at the server level, troubleshooting when something breaks, and the boring “is the server even reachable” work that nobody wants to do at 3am.
You control: cPanel/WHM access for managing websites, email accounts and DNS, optional root access if your team wants direct server access (some clients want it, some prefer to stay above the OS layer), custom PHP versions and extensions through EasyApache, application-level configuration, and what you actually run on the server. The “managed” part is about the operations work below your applications, not about Studio Ubique deciding what your sites look like or how they’re built. More on how we work covers the broader operational approach.
